The Falls Fountain in Auburn, Maine
The Falls Fountain water sculpture was inspired by the nearby Androscoggin River Falls. The actual falls are now often dry when the river is diverted into a power plant. Colonial history tells of caves and hiding places behind the rushing waterfall.

Water is pumped through stainless steel supports and 36 feet of bronze nozzles to form curtains of water that cascade over a field of pink granite boulders. All 560 gallons-per-minute of water is filtered and recycled. At night, focused spotlights within the fountain structure illuminate the water flow and highlight the boulders.
